Daniel 5: THE STORY-->The Writings on the wall & its Interpretation; The Fall of the Kingdom of Babylon (The Head, Made of Gold).

God restored King Nebuchadnezzar to his throne after the 7yrs. And 2yrs after, he died. Daniel 5 tells us his son (or his grandson, as some records show), Belshazzar, succeeded him. Daniel was about 87yrs. 

Belshazzar was feasting with thousands of people, featuring his wives (not wife) & concubines. They drank from the golden & silver vessels that Nebuchadnezzar brought from the God's Temple, Jerusalem. He dined &wined to the glory of his gods made of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood & stone. While feasting, a Hand came & wrote on the wall & he didn't understand it; not even his magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, & soothsayers. So, upon the advice of the Queen, the king called on Daniel for help. The king promised that if he was able to interpret the hand writings, he would give Daniel a scarlet cloth, gold chain & make him a third ruler. Daniel rejected the offers. Below is the interpretation God gave to Daniel to tell the king.....

Mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

Peres; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

Scarlet cloth & chain of gold were given to Daniel but I believe Daniel removed & threw them away; for they were of no use to him. That very night, the prophetic message behind the Writings on the Wall was fulfilled; the king was slain. Babylon was overpowered by the kingdom of Medo-Persia & Darius, who was about threescore and two (i.e. 62yrs old) took the kingdom.

This evening, if God permits, we'll see how Babylon was conquered by Medo-Persia in fulfillment of prophecy.
