WHAT CHRIST COMMANDED THE DISCIPLES TO USE IN REMEMBRANCE OF HIM

Thursday, April 4, 2014:

Question: Dear WCGP, Do U believe Christ was born? Do U believe He was crucified? If No, Why? If Yes, Why Do you say Christmas & Easter are Customs and traditions of men? Answers needed urgently. Thank You.

RESPONSE
**Christ's Birth**
Of course, we believe the Messiah (Jesus Christ) was born of a Virgin Mary. In fact, Christ was fully God and Fully Man; He is the Image of the Invincible God. But we don' take part in Christmas because Christ Himself, whilst on earth, never Commanded His Disciples to celebrate His Birthday. And NOWHERE in the Bible did the Apostles or Early Church celebrate Christ's Birthday. IN FACT, THE DATE ON WHICH CHRIST WAS BORN WAS NOT STATED IN THE BIBLE - IT IS UNKNOWN. So, where from the 25th December? If the Messiah of the Bible was not born on 25th December and neither He nor His followers ever commemorated Christ's Birth, isn't it clear that some people/group actually came up with the IDEA of Christmas? Isn't it abundantly clear that Christmas is one of the numerous Traditions of Men, which the Catholic Church / Roman Empire forced on Christians? Christ didn't teach us to observe His birthday/Christmas and the Apostles also Never observed it; So We Also Don't observe Christmas.

**Christ's Death**
We absolutely believe in the Death of Christ. Had he not atoned for our sins, we wouldn't have had reconciliation. Thus, Jesus' Atonement on the Cross was the only sacrifice that could meet the righteous requirement of God; our works CAN NEVER GRANT US SALVATION. So we're saved by Grace through Faith; not of works (Eph 2:8). And after salvation, God works in us both to WILL (have the desire) and TO DO GOOD (empower us to live a Christ-like life) for HIS PLEASURE (Philippians 2:13). So we believe BEFORE SALVATION, Works are not important. But after Salvation, God seals us with His Spirit, who empowers us to have the DESIRE & POWER to LIVE FOR CHRIST. The things that we couldn't do because we were living in sin, Christ empowers us to do when we become saved (Philippians 4:13). So, Christ's Death is very important to us and we thank God for John 3:16.

But we don' subscribe to the distorted view propagated by many churches. Is there a Command from Christ to His Disciples to observe/Remember His Death? Yes. Was it Easter? No! IT WAS THE LORD'S SUPPER (Luke 22:19-20). And when He was taken up to Heaven, the Apostles continued to observe it. Paul wrote;

''For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.''' 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Clearly, Christ Himself Instituted THE LORD'S SUPPER, which, when observed, is a proclamation of the Lord's Death till He Comes. NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE DID CHRIST OR THE APOSTLES OBSERVE EASTER TO REMEMBER CHRIST'S DEATH -- Rather, it was The Lord's Supper.

It is therefore apparent that someone or a group masterminded the inclusion of Christmas & Easter (just like many other Unbiblical festivities) into Christendom. And most of these Traditions of Men, which are not of God, were imported into Christendom by the Roman Catholic /Roman Empire. Christianizing pagan festivities doesn't make such festivities spiritual. Never make that mistake. The problem is, many Christians haven't even finished obeying/observing what God has given them; yet they want to go for customs and traditions of men.

In sum, first: we believe in the Birth of Christ and we are humbled by what the father did by giving us His Son. But we don' believe in Roman Catholic's Christmas, which they have forced on many Churches. Second; we believe in the Death of Christ; for that is THE ONLY WAY THROUGH WHICH MANKIND COULD BE RECONCILED TO GOD. And We believe in the Lord's Supper, which He (Christ Himself) instituted and was observed by the Apostles to commemorate His Death; We don' believe in Roman Catholic's Easter, which they've forced on many Churches.

Carefully consider this: If the Apostles to whom God has ALL instructions about godliness DID NOT CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS OR EASTER, and Yet Were Considered faithful servants of God, What makes U think WCGP members are wrong for NOT CELEBRATING Christmas & Easter and that U, who celebrate these Customs & Traditions of Men, are Right? We leave U with the following Scriptures.

'But should we, or an angel from Heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed.'' Gal 1:8. Obviously, Paul and the Apostles preached the Lord's Supper BUT THEY NEVER PREACHED CHRISTMAS or EASTER.

'"Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name ... and will deceive many" (Matthew 24:4-5). And indeed many people have crept into Christendom in the Name of Jesus but they are not sent by Him. It is therefore obvious that Many holidays would be introduced into Christendom with Christ's name attached to them which don't have the Endorsement of Christ. The devil knew that if he could link Christmas & Easter to Christ's Birth & Death, he could get many believers to observe these two customs & traditions of men. People say, they celebrate Christmas & Easter in honor of Christ. Meanwhile, Christ didn't ask them to honor Him in that manner. He said the Way to Honor Him is by Obeying Him; not by observing customs and traditions of men. "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the traditions of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ" (Colossians 2:8; compare Mark 7:8-9, 13).

Ask Anyone if Christmas is in the Bible: Ask them if Christ was born on 25th December. Ask them again if Christ has commanded believes to observe anything called Easter as His death....The Answers U will get are going to be ALL ''NO.'' Yet they keep on observing these Traditions & Customs of Men and call themselves, instead of being obedient to God. Jesus asked, and still asking ''Why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46).

Jesus commanded His apostles to teach others exactly what He had taught, "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded and taught you" (Matthew 28:20, NIV).  He condemned replacing God's commandments (the teachings of the one true gospel) WITH human traditions and human reasoning. Speaking to the Pharisees, He said, "For laying aside the commandments of God, you hold to the traditions of men ... All too well you reject the commandments of  God, that you may keep your traditions" (Mark 7:8-9).

God never Commanded us to observe Christ's Birth. Why do U force yourself to do it by falsely instituting Christmas?

And when it comes to Christ's Death, The Lord's Supper was what Christ Himself instituted and the apostles also observed. So why should U institute Easter to rival it?

May God grant us the understanding and the grace to both WILL & OBEY HIM and throw away customs & traditions of Men. Amen

What THE REAL/TRUE JESUS CHRIST Himself Took Part, Which HE HANDED TO THE DISCIPLES/APOSTLES was NOT EASTER...And it was NOT  CERTAINLY CHRISTMAS; IT WAS ''THE LORD'S SUPPER.''

Before Jesus died, He ate BREAD & drank WINE with them, SYMBOLIZING His BODY & BLOOD, respectively. Luke 22:19-20 says......

''And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.''

After His Ascension into Heaven, since He commanded the Disciples / Apostles to CONTINUE with the Lord's Super and anytime they were to do it, they should do it IN REMEMBRANCE OF HIM (i.e TO REMEMBER JESUS CHRIST). The apostles/Early Church obeyed and did the Lord's Super. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 that...

''For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.''

Because the Lord's Supper (Eating of the Bread and Drinking of the Wine symbolize Christ's Body and Blood, respectively) is HOLY, ANYONE who partakes is to EXAMINE himself/herself first. Anyone who practices sin and partakes in the Lord Supper brings JUDGEMENT upon himself/herself (1 Corinthians 11:23-27-29), which could be SICKNESS or DEATH (1 Corinthians 11:30).

Clearly, THE LORD'S SUPPER and THE BREAKING OF BREAD are what CHRIST took part & HANDED DOWN to the Disciples/Apostles & the Early Church --- NOT CHRISTMAS; NOT EASTER which are celebrated by modern-day Christians and Non-Christians alike. DO U THINK Non-Christians and many Christians are willing to Forsake SIN and partake in the Lord's Supper? NEVER. Many Christians, just like Non-Christians, Enjoy Sin and still want to be with Christ. So the short-cut is to Celebrate Christmas and other traditions of men and abandon WHAT CHRIST HIMSELF WANTED US TO DO (i.e. The Lord's Supper & Breaking of Bread).

Lastly, if we want to go by Bible's GENUINE WAY of remembering God's Salvation plan for Mankind and to proclaim Christ's Death till HE COMES BACK AGAIN, it IS NOT through Christmas or EASTER --IT IS THROUGH THE LORD'S SUPPER. If U don't know anything at all, by God's Grace, I have quoted at least two (2) scriptures to show that Christ took part in the Lord's Supper & also Commanded His followers to CONTINUE it. WHERE IN THE BIBLE CAN THOSE WHO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS & EASTER SHOW TO CONFIRM THAT JESUS WANTED US TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS & EASTER? LET US DISCERN.
